Fancy Farm Picnic

The Guinness Book of World Records called this, “The World’s Largest Picnic”. Held on the first Saturday in August, the “Picnic” is the kick-off political event for the state of Kentucky and includes stump speeches by local, state, and federal officials, barbeque with all the fixings, and games for all ages (www.fancyfarm.net).

Gourd Patch Festival

The third Saturday in September, Mayfield pays homage to the humble gourd with a gourd art show in the gallery, gourd vendors, artists and crafters, entertainment, concessions, and even a gourd car race. This event draws families from around Kentucky and surrounding states and is a favorite with the locals (www.icehousearts.org).

Purchase District Fair

The expected and more are yours at the Purchase District Fair where family-friendly fun happens each night during the Fair. Expect the carnival rides, midway, Enduro races and Little Miss & Mister pageants. Get more with all 4-H and Home Division Competitions, open to all Purchase and Pennyrile counties of west Kentucky! Pick more ticketed events with Kickboxing & MMA, and OVW Wrestling nights.  Get more FREE Entrance Nights thanks to sponsors MCP, JPMC, WK&T and West Kentucky Pawn. Pay as you go for only the activities you want at the Purchase District Fair, located on the Mayfield Graves County Fairgrounds at 1004 KY-121.

4th of July

4th of July Independence Day Celebrations are held in both the City and County each year. The City of Mayfield’s Fireworks & Music is held at the Mayfield-Graves County Ballpark, while Fancy Farm hosts a true hometown parade featuring Dr. Hunt’s famous “Fancy Farm Mules”.
