Cartwright Grove
Cartwright Grove is the recreation of a tiny town that has become a part of Mayfield and Graves County history, lovingly known by locals as Cartwright Farm, which was a gift to the community from the late Earl and Lucille Wright. Those buildings are long gone and only preserved in a few photographs, as well as the memories of the thousands of visitors that it attracted each year. A community effort has arisen to build a similar 1800’s western town, located at Mayfield-Graves County Fairgrounds. The project has stirred the interest of many local residents, and is being constructed by a dedicated group of volunteers who want to make even more memories for future generations.
Fancy Farm Picnic
In the Mayfield Monitor of July 31, 1880, there appeared the following notice: “There will be a barn dance, picnic and ‘gander pulling’ at Fancy Farm next Thursday. Those that have never seen the latter should turn out on this occasion. It will be interesting.”
Mayfield-Graves County Fairgrounds & Expo Center
The Mayfield-Graves County Fairgrounds is a wonderful place for the community to gather for local and regional events. Trade Day is held each Monday morning, year round. Other events held at the Fairgrounds include the Purchase District Fair, Tractor Pulls, Rodeo, Auctions, and more. Frequent vendor shows also are hosted at the Julian Carroll Expo Center, located within the Graves County Fairgrounds.
